Biography
From the moment he bowled underarm at a three-year-old Rich up in Darlington, Ernie was sowing the seeds for the Cavaliers. Little did he know.
When the Cavaliers started to become a serious idea, it was only right and proper that we should ask Ernie to be our honourary president, a role which he was delighted to accept. At 75, he opened the batting and scored the first run in our first game against Shaldon Optimists, putting the rest of us to shame with his enthusiatic running, keen eye and impeccable technique. Sadly for us, he decided to retire after his second game, but he remains an inspiration to us all.
Ernie was voted Batsman of the Year in 2008, an award which was richly deserved.
