Despite bowling the opposition out for the first time ever in a Twenty20 game, a woeful batting performance saw the Cavaliers return to form against Windsor Great Park.
The previous day had seen Rich take 3-10 against Thorverton, but today he was back in familiar position behind the stumps. The first ball of the innings was top-edged high into the air with Pete Medlock – who had had a great game keeping that day – underneath it. Usually one of the safest pairs of hands in the team, this time it went down. Chris would end the day wicketless, while the batsman went on to top-score with 31 not out!
First ball aside, we had a great day in the field. Barry, Andy and Meds all took two wickets each at good economies, nobody really got clouted for runs, and I even managed to take a full-length catch off JM’s bowling. We bowled out WGP with an over to spare.
However, we were once again found wanting in the field – frustrating given the way be had bowled and fielded. Only Si and Andy, both with 14, made it into double figures, and we’d have been bowled out for about 50 were it not for a couple of their lads who came out to bat for us! still, it was a terrific day, and we hope to welcome Windsor Great Park back sometime in the future.
